The month of May has offered us a taste of Summer with its warm sunny days and pleasant evenings. I always feel so much better for seeing those blue skies but with them comes the endless list of gardening chores which never seems to get any shorter!

The garden here is always evolving, and May’s project has been to create a new area around what used to be the duck pond. Mr. 47Things got creative with a rose from a watering can and created a fountain and then there was no going back.

After much deliberation, we moved the hen house, created a rockery, put up a new picket fence, threw down some grass and wildflower seeds, refilled the pond, added some water plants, fish and even a couple of tadpoles.

The hens now have a new space to scratch around in and we (fingers crossed) will have a hen free zone where we can sit after a hard day’s garden graft with a nice G&T and reflect on our achievements, think about our next project and no doubt post a picture or two on social media.

Since launching 47Things I have had to become more involved in social media and certainly, a lot of my time is spent browsing Instagram profiles. What I have noticed this month is that this lovely weather has really inspired lots of you to create a stylish living space outside. Garden makeovers are aplenty, regardless of size even the smallest of spaces has been given the wow factor by adding a few plants and some stylish soft furnishings.

Last week I posted a picture of our eco-friendly rugs from weavergreen they went down a storm. The rugs are waterproof so can be used indoors and out and will stand up to the odd rain shower which is always helpful in the UK, especially on a day like today. We’ve had some great customer feedback and I have loved seeing how the rugs have been styled in your garden makeovers.

So, while the weather has taken a turn for the worst I have left the garden to soak up this most welcome rain and headed indoors to finish this blog. The sunshine may have temporarily disappeared, but I have created my own little sunshine vibe and got cosy under one of our vibrant soft throws from Atlanticblankets

The designs are inspired by the Cornish coastline where owners Gemma and Alistair live. With a background in interior design and a love of the coast, they have created these super soft blankets and throws by bringing together nautical contemporary design and colour which add style to any room in the house and will keep you warm at the same time! We have a range of sizes and designs online and even have them available as baby blankets which would make a perfect baby shower gift, click here to find out more.

I will have to admit, I don’t mind a little bit of rain if it means I can stay snuggled under this blanket all afternoon. Although I would like to add that I am also being rather productive and will be introducing our new range of lovely organic soaps from Soapfolk online later today.

I can’t wait to feature them in next month’s blog so until then enjoy the last bank holiday weekend and let’s hope that the sun does make another appearance.
